WIMBLEDON COUNTY SCHOOL
STAFF AND OLD GIRLS' ASSOCIATION

WCS SOGA

WE BEGAN in 1992 when Ann Harrison (nee Baker, 1950) tried to find her own friends. Old Girls replied to her letters in the Press, until, in 1993, our first Reunion (see REUNIONS page) was attended by around 600 people from all over the world, and aged from 38 to 93. Our records now number around 2,000.

WE CANNOT GO ON FOR EVER. Following our wonderful Centenary Reunion, our final magazine was published in November 2007 and our formal activities closed with the publication of “Acting Head” in March 2008. This booklet brings back to life the Staff Entertainments given on School Birthdays. See PUBLICATIONS page.

BUT SOME LIFE REMAINS. You can remain in touch through our Newsletter by Email

and we may be able to put you in touch with old friends - at least for a while. See CONTACT US on Home Page.

We need your Present Name and Address: Maiden Name : Date of Birth, Plus – a couple of remembered facts to establish your bona fide connection with the School, e.g. Staff names, school events or customs.

Some PUBLICATIONS and OTHER GOODIES are still available.

A REWARDING EXPERIENCE

REUNIONS, two magazines each year plus PUBLICATIONS and "OTHER GOODIES" have stirred forgotten memories (on the whole pleasurable) and given joy to Old Girls and Staff alike.

Friends who lost contact 50 years ago have met again – sometimes far away overseas.

We have made the 14 years of WCS SOGA’s existence count.

The COMMITTEE formed in 1993 continued almost unchanged and all contributed energy and great ideas to make WCS SOGA live, in a way that the original Old Girls' Association never could.

Year and Area REPRESENTATIVES- 45 of them - acted as a point of contact for their year group or location, reviving a link with home for overseas members, and establishing regular get-togethers for many year groups.
